Simply save your credit card to your user profile. If you have not yet created a profile, you can enter your card details at the time of booking.
What is 3D Secure and how can I use it for my card?
3D Secure is the technical name of a security standard applied to online purchases using credit or debit cards. It is called ‘MasterCard Identity Check’ for Mastercard, ‘Visa Secure’ for Visa, ‘Safekey’ for American Express, ‘J/Secure’ for JCB and ‘ProtectBuy’ for Diners and Discover.
ITA Airways adheres to new regulations and applies Strong Customer Authentication to all transactions. Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) is a requirement of the second EU Payment Services Directive (PSD2) in force within the European Economic Area (EEA) and/or on credit and/or debit cards issued within the EEA. Online payments must be verified with at least two of the following three factors:
The requirements of the Payment Services Directive increase the security of electronic payments.
Transactions are protected, for example, by a personal password or transaction number (mTAN) sent to your cell phone via text message (identification procedures may vary from bank to bank). This allows you to shop online with confidence. You may also be asked to answer a security question. Your security question and answer are set when you register your card with your bank. The security question often appears in a separate pop-up window. Check that your browser pop-up blocker is disabled.
How does 3D Secure work?
If 3D Secure authentication is required for the online transaction, a bank input window will appear after you enter your card details, and you will be asked to enter your password or mTAN and/or a security question linked to your card. If you enter all the details correctly, the bank will confirm that you are the legitimate cardholder and the payment process can continue.
The first time you make a payment with the 3D Secure system, after entering your credit or debit card information, you are asked to register for 3D Secure. A dialog will open for the bank that issued the card and you can complete your registration.

PayPal is a global payment provider that allows customers to pay online, including at ita-airways.com.
What is PayPal?
PayPal is a free online payment service that allows you to make safe and convenient transactions.
How do I pay with PayPal on ita-airways.com?
To use PayPal, you must register with your personal and account information. Registration is free. If you select ‘PayPal’ as your payment method on ita-airways.com, we will redirect you directly to the PayPal website. Once payment is complete, the system will redirect you to the ITA Airways booking confirmation page.
- Installment payment
Residents of Brazil and Colombia are offered the option to pay in installments if travel begins in the country of residence and the credit card used for payment has been issued in the same country.
If your itinerary allows installment payment, you can select this option directly on the payment page. Once you have entered your booking in the system, you will be sent a booking code, at which point you only need to contact customer support for the payment plan. - Agency payment
If you are a resident of one of the countries listed below, you have the option to book online and pay at a specific agency within a specified time frame. Please note that this option is not available for last minute departures and travel must begin in your country of residence.
Online booking with cash payment is available in the following countries: Algeria, Equatorial Guinea, Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria and Tunisia. - Other local payment options
If you reside in certain countries, you may use the payment methods listed below if your departure country and country of residence are the same. To use these services, please select your local payment method on the payment page. Once you have entered your reservation in the system, you will receive a confirmation email with detailed payment instructions. Please note that this option is not available for last minute departures.
Spain: Bizum
What is Bizum?
Bizum is a simple and secure real-time bank transfer payment method available exclusively to Spanish bank customers and based on the Spanish Bizum system, which allows you to make instant online payments. Payment via Bizum is only available to customers with a Spanish phone number.
Brazil: PiX
What is PiX?
PiX is a real-time bank transfer payment method based on the Brazilian PiX system. It is available exclusively to Brazilian bank customers and allows you to make instant funds transfers quickly, easily, and securely. Payments via PiX are only available to customers with a Brazilian phone number and for flights priced in BRL.
What is instant transfer?
Instant transfer is a real-time payment method that allows you to securely pay directly from your online bank account during the booking process, ensuring your travel plans are confirmed immediately.
How to pay by instant transfer
If you decide to use instant transfer as your payment method on the dedicated page, we will direct you straight to the secure website where you can select your bank and enter your home banking details. Payment must be confirmed with a transaction authentication number. After payment, you will access the booking confirmation page on the ITA Airways website.
Important information
Instant transfer payment is only available to individuals who have a phone number and a home banking service in one of the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Portugal and the United Kingdom. This method of payment can be used for flights priced in EUR and GBP.
Once purchased, your Ita Airways Gift Card is already active! You will receive your Gift Card Number at the email address provided during purchase, which will be sent to you after the purchase is finalized.
Using the Gift Card is very simple:
- Choose and select your flight on www.ita-airways.com
- Once you have made your choice, enter the Gift Card Number during the payment process
- Finalize your purchase with your preferred payment method
This feature allows passengers departing from any Brazilian airport to pay for their booking in installments, provided certain conditions are met:
Requirements:
- The total booking amount is more than $100 USD (approximately 550 BRL).
- The payment currency is BRL.
- The credit card was issued in Brazil and is one of the following accepted types: Visa, Mastercard or American Express.
How it works:
- On the payment page, eligible passengers will see installment payment options from 2 to 6 months.
- Installments are offered in BRL only.
- Interest-free: no additional charges apply.
- The total price includes all ancillary services related to the flight.
- The first installment covers the amount of taxes.
- Passengers can select their preferred installment payment plan and complete the payment.
Attention: in order to ensure protection against frauds, you might be asked, by authorized personnel, to show the credit card with which the ticket was purchased. Failure to exhibit the credit card and ID card, in original or in copy (if you are not the holder of the card with which the ticket was purchased), could result in not being allowed onboard.
